Nintendo Switch Latest News: Price And Release Date Reveal On January 12, Watch It Live

Possibly one of the most anticipated gadgets in recent history, more details of the Nintendo Switch will finally be unveiled come January.

At 11:00 p.m. ET on Jan. 12, excited people the gaming world will finally know how much a Switch will cost and when they can start buying one. The event will be held in Tokyo and is actually scheduled on Jan. 13 but the differences in time zones means that the announcement will be known in the United States on the 12th. This bit of news was posted on Nintendo's website where fans can also watch the event live, according to Polygon.
Time magazine reports that an event in New York will follow the one in Japan. The NY event, which will be held on Jan. 13, will delve deeper into the announcement that will be made the day prior, according to Time.
The Switch was hidden under the codename NX for a long while and many speculated on what it will be. But after the Switch was unveiled via a trailer in late October, not a few jaws dropped.
Even talk show host Jimmy Fallon let his geeky side come out when the Switch debuted on his show, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. In the episode, Nintendo of America chief Reggie Fils-Aime surprised everyone by unveiling the Switch which was just sitting under a yellow box made to look like a coin block from the Super Mario game. Fils-Aime and Fallon showed how the Switch operates by playing the "Legend of Zelda" for a few minutes.

The Nintendo Switch is a hybrid console that gorgeously combines handheld and home video game console dynamics. It has a tablet-like main unit with controllers that easily snaps on and off from its sides. The tablet part can be placed in a docking station when playing in a large screen and easily removed to become a portable gaming console.
